Henry turned one last weekend. It's hard to believe that a year has flown by so quickly. The week leading up to his birthday, I was reflecting on the fact that he had made it a whole year without being sick..ever. Well, I spoke too soon. A week before his birthday, he woke up with both of his eyes matted shut and Thomas had a red eye. So, off to Urgent Care we went. Both boys had pink eye and Thomas also had an ear infection. I was shocked that Henry didn't have an ear infection because he had been having quite a time trying to sleep at night. Well, after four more sleepless nights with him (waking up every hour and/or being up for four hours at a time with him), I brought him back to the Clinic. Turned out that he had an ear infection, too, after all. The lesson that we learn from this..always ask Urgent Care medical staff if they can actually see your child's ear drum, or if there is too much "goo" in the way. If you aren't able to see an ear drum, you can't tell if they have an infection. The other lesson I have learned, never brag about the fact that your child (and actually both of our children) had made it a whole year without being sick. You are just asking for trouble with that one. So..after many days on antibiotics, I think our family is getting back to normal.

Even though Henry wasn't feeling the best at his party, he was still a great trooper. We had good friends and family here for the celebration. He didn't really understand the whole cupcake thing, but he explored it a little bit. Thomas was a good helper and made sure that all of Henry's presents were opened and in record time. :)
Henry is so close to walking! He crawls everywhere and walks along the walls and furniture. He is such a happy boy! He is saying, "Mama, dada, tsee tsee (Thomas), hi and uh oh." He also likes to play "where's Henry," by covering up his eyes.
Thomas is continuing to grow and learn. We just signed him up for two-day a week pre-school for this coming fall. It feels a little strange to already be at this phase in his life, but it is also so exciting. This is a picture from New Year's Eve, when Thomas was having a dance party with his puppy.
