Surgery, Thomas the Bow Hunter and 11 Weeks to Go!

October and November are going by very quickly. In mid-October, after a visit to Thomas's ENT, we agreed it would be best to have him go through surgery again. A year ago, he had tubes put in his ears (after a May-November of almost continuous antibiotics for ear infections). The tubes were wonderful!! He was antibiotic free for about a year. One of his tubes came out in mid-October and when we went to visit his ENT, we realized that the one year was still having issues. Thomas soon went through surgery again, to have both of his tubes replaced and his adenoids out. So far, it has been going very well. Aside from the stinky breath that comes with any surgery where there is healing in the throat...it was a good experience.. It's amazing how quickly kids bounce back from those things.

Thomas loved running through the leaves at our house. He and Charlie would make big piles and then Thomas would "SMASH" them! He also enjoy helping us carve our pumpkins. He mostly just watched, but we did get his "play" silverware and he pretended to carve. Charlie and Thomas also made a scarecrow, which added nicely to the pumpkin display in the front yard. However...the pumpkins came to a sad end on Halloween Eve. We woke up in the morning and Thomas looked outside and said, "What happen to my punkins? They in the street!!" I said, "Well, it looks like some boys smashed them." Thomas said, "Those boys naughty...need time out NOW!" He is still telling people about the naughty boys that smashed his pumpkins. Of course, we do not know that it was a boy who did it, but...it was easier than saying, "Well, Thomas...we live by about five college houses and are along the route to the bar, etc. etc." :)

Thomas was a bow hunter for Halloween. He was very excited about it. I know that he doesn't look too excited in this picture, but I think it was just because he was ready to get out and get candy! We decided that since I had a very lovely, round belly...it could be a pumpkin. Thanks to my friend, Jessica, for the great idea and shirt. :)
Thomas totally got into the trick or treating. He ran from house to house and knocked on the doors. He would say "Trick or Treat," as he ran up to each house. When the homeowner opened the door, he would usually just stare at them. He would just reach his hand in the bowl, grab candy and then say, "you want some mom?" It was very cute. He said "sank you," more often than he said trick or treat. Regardless, he had a great time.

I am 29 weeks this week. The baby is definitely growing busier and bigger every day. It's been really fun to watch Thomas interact with my belly. He puts his lips against my belly and says, "Hello baby...it's your brudder! I wuv you!" It's very heart warming.

New adventures for Thomas:
  • Vocabulary and sayings: "Just a second." "Just hanging out." "Guess what...chicken butt" (That one is from his little friend, although I love it because I used to say that growing up.) "You taking it easy, mom?" "I just wanna play for a wittle bit." Keep in mind that most of these sayings happen with a little pointer finger pointing at you.
  • We converted his crib into a daybed. We are going to start the process of looking for an actual big boy bed, but this works for now. He's doing ok with staying in his bed, it's just the staying asleep thing that we are still working on.
  • Thomas loves to kick balls. He actually has fantastic hand to eye and hand to foot coordination. He barely ever misses!!
  • He is very funny. He now knows when he is being funny and will laugh hysterically about it. It's pretty fun to watch.
