My How the Time Flies...

So, I might have teased everyone with two blogs in two days in August...I hope you didn't get used to it! :) It's been almost two months since my last post. That doesn't mean that there haven't been "post worthy" things happening at the Johnson household, it just means that I have either been asleep on the couch by 8:30 or that I've been too lazy. Let's go with the sleepy option.:

Update on Baby January...I am now 24 weeks along. It is hard to believe that there are only a few months to go. The picture is from our 20 week ultrasound. We did not find out if it is a boy or girl, but...he/she sure looks like Thomas. :) We shall find out in 16 weeks or so. Baby is moving tons these days. Charlie was able to feel it for the first time this weekend. It's so amazing. I'm feeling kicks, rolls, stretches, etc. It's wonderful. Thomas blesses the baby every night, during his prayers. He seems to know that there is a baby in mommy's belly, whether he understands what that really mean...has yet to be proven. He tries to give the baby toys and food, which is fun to see him being so caring towards his little sister or brother.
Thomas has been a busy guy these past few months. We have been to see animals, visited the county fair, state fair and many other day trips. As long as there are either animals and/or tractors, we are good to go.

On Labor Day weekend, we met up with the Johnson side of the family for a great shrimp boil! It was a lot of fun and Thomas had fun with all of his Johnson cousins. He even thought it was pretty fun to eat our supper right off of the picnic table. YUM!
Charlie has put his own rugby playing days on hold for a bit to coach the Women's team at Gustavus. It has been a lot of fun for the whole family. Since Charlie is off on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, he has been bringing Thomas to practice with him. Thomas loves being with the girls and is turning out to be a good Assistant Coach. :) He knows how to blow the whistle, say "run fast" "nice tackle" and "Go Gusties!" He loves going to practice with dad and gets a bit sad, when I show up after work to bring him home with me. At least there are usually four other practices going on, as we walk back to the car...distractions are great.

Just a few other pictures to show you of the past few months...picture of Charlie and Thomas in the back seat on the way home from a rugby match, Thomas and me cheering on the Vikings, Thomas and Charlie shooting his new bow (it has suction cups...not real arrows on the end) and Thomas surrounding himself with rugby balls...one of his favorite things. :)

New things with Thomas:
  • Thomas is quite the little helper. He likes to help pick up toys, put dishes in the sink, put laundry in the basket...anything he can do himself. Being independent is a very big thing lately.
  • It amazes me how much kids can remember. He will bring up stories from days, weeks and months ago and talk about them like they happened yesterday. We were talking about the pool the other day and he said, "Mom, Lydia go pool with me." We had a pool date with his little friend, Lydia, in July sometime. It amazes me that he remembers that.
  • Thomas sayings..."I coaching." "I no wike it." Me: "Thomas, when mommy and daddy say that it's still nigh nigh time, then we have to go back to sleep." Thomas: "Mom, sometimes..Thomas awake." How do you argue with that? Thomas: "Where daddy?" Me: "Daddy is outside." Thomas: "Probably garage." His questions and observations are just getting so detailed! Sometimes I just stare at him in amazement of the things that he questions or talks about.
  • Potty time...he is showing interest in using the potty. We got him a little potty chair recently and every once in a while, he decides to try sitting on it. Charlie has had a few successful experiences with Thomas on this. I will then get a call from a very proud little boy. It's very cute.
Life is always an adventure at the Johnson household. Thomas is changing by leaps and bounds, my belly is growing everyday and we just keep on ticking.
