On Sunday, we had his birthday party. We invited our families and then his two friends, Malcolm and Lydia and, of course, their families. :) Unlike last year, our air conditioner did not go out this year! YEAH!! The temperature was the same as last year...in the 90s with a lot of humidity, but we didn't have to sweat it out outside. Woo hoo!
We had a great celebration. One of my co-workers, Cheri, made cupcakes for Thomas's birthday! They were amazing, delicious, beautiful, etc. If you want to know more about Cheri and her talents, let me know! As you can tell, the theme of the party was "BALLS!" We had sports ball balloons, a banner and party favors. Thomas was very excited about so many balls being around him.
Thomas actually got the candle out in one puff! Last year, he ate a bit of the cupcake and then spit it out and threw it off of his highchair. This year, he took a few bites and then said, "All done K-cake, mommy." We are making big steps. I guess he's like his dad...a few bites of something sweet is good enough.
He was a very lucky boy for his birthday. It was fun watching him open up presents this year. Every gift got a huge reaction. He was having such a great time with it. He received a great big Tonka fire engine from Grandma Johnson. He, along with Malcolm and Lydia, loved it! He received a very cool Handy Manny tool set, a boat, puzzles, books, a wagon and a fish plate.
Grandma and Grandpa Hogberg gave Thomas a barn tent! Malcolm and Lydia also enjoyed this toy. The kids had fun going back and forth between all of the toys and sharing so nicely with one another. The barn tent is still set up in our living room. I'm thinking it will make a move the basement at some point, but for now...we're having fun.
It's hard to believe that Thomas is already two! This past year has gone by so quickly. In less than six months, Thomas will be a big brother and then time will surely start flying. We feel very blessed to have such a happy, healthy little boy and another one (we don't know if it's a boy or girl) on the way.
Thank you to everyone for your well wishes for Thomas. You all helped to make his day very special.
Two blogs in 24 hours! This must be a record for me.
