Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road...

...to get to the pot of candy!

Our little chicken seemed to enjoy the week of Halloween festivities. These pictures are a compilation of a few evenings of wearing his chicken costume. He really liked putting it on, so we let him play in the evenings in it.

On Thursday night, we went to the Lake Crystal Community Center with his friends, Lydia and Malcolm. They had a free Halloween evening for families. There were games, treats, music, etc. Thomas really enjoyed the music. He would stop where ever he was and just start bouncing (that is how he dances). The picture below was taken at the event, in their picture area. We had a hard time getting Thomas to leave the decorations alone, but alas...it still made for a great picture. It looks like Lydia and Malcolm are trying to figure out what he is doing.

On the day of Halloween, Thomas and I spent the evening with Malcolm and his mom and dad. Charlie was in Iowa this weekend for rugby, so it was just the two of us. We started off with dinner at our house and then went to a few different houses in town with our Halloween crew. Thomas and Malcolm liked walking up to the houses and holding their candy bags out. Poor Thomas didn't get to try any candy though. However..he did sneak a taste in of some Nerds. We were driving to our next location and I heard a loud, "Mmmmmmm," from the back seat. I looked back and Thomas had chewed the corner of the box off of the Nerds and was eating them. He wasn't too happy with me, when I took them away. He had some cookies earlier in the evening, so I think he was ok on the sweet-o-meter.

After trick-o-treating, we went over to Malcolm's house, to help hand out candy. Every time the door would ring, Thomas and Malcolm would head for the door. They were very interested in all of the silly looking people at the door. After some coffee and treats for the adults, we called it a night. As soon as we got home, Thomas had to check out what was in his treat bag. All four pieces of candy. :) He was pretty excited about them.

New this week:
  • Eggs and meat are good! Thomas is surprising us this week with his food intake. He ate scrambled eggs and meatballs this week. Yum! New things to add to the menu.
  • He added two new animal noises to his already extensive play list, which formerly consisted of a cow (moo) and a puppy (woo woo). He now says neigh for a horse and grunts for a pig.
  • When you start to put his shoes and coat on him, now he occasionally says, "Go? Go?" I think he's starting to put some things together. Coat=going somewhere. It's very cute.

  1. Thomas's sweet-o-meter is pretty high regardless of what he eats!
