Since our last post, Thomas has had all kinds of fun. I decided to post many pictures this time, and to let them do most of the talking. Thomas loves sports balls of any kind. He's gotten quite good at throwing and catching, too. He will also run around the house and acts like he's playing defense of some sort. He will squat down and continuously smack the ball into his other hand. He also makes Charlie and I do the same thing, with a rousing, "Mon! Mon!" (translation...Come on.)
Thomas is lucky to have some great friends in town. His friend Lydia (and her little brother, Eli, who is not pictured) come over for play dates once in a while. Thomas and Lydia seem to really like each other, but...sharing toys is hard for them. :) Thomas doesn't care about one of his toys, until Lydia shows an interest. We are working on sharing. In this picture, you can see a bit of a black and blue eye on Thomas. He had a run-in with the hutch and the hutch seemed to have won. Thomas's other good friend is Malcolm. We had a mommy and son play date one Saturday, which involved french toast at Baker's Square and errands at Sam's Club. They were very cute, sitting in the back of the car together. After Malcolm went home, Thomas kept looking beside him in the car and saying, "Malmo? Malmo?"
Thomas and Charlie spent a lot of time outside this winter and spring. Thomas loved building momans (snowmans). Everyday when we would leave for daycare, Thomas would have to say goodbye to his snowman. It got smaller and smaller, until he completely melted away one day. Thomas still would look out the window and ask about his moman.
We were also lucky to spend time with his cousins over the past month. Cameron and Blake came over for pizza one night and Thomas had lots of fun with them. We also met up with cousin Anna for lunch one day. It's so fun to watch him with his cousins. He really thinks they are fun. He also got to see cousin, Morgan, on Easter. Thomas thinks that Morgan is just wonderful. She is very sweet with him.
The St. Patrick's Day Parade was a big hit this year. Last year, Thomas had a good time, until the firetrucks turned on their sirens. This year, he thought that part was fun! He also had fun waving at all of the kids and picking up candy. One of the floats threw Easter eggs, to advertise for the Easter Egg hunt, Thomas thought they were little rugby balls. He ran around saying, "Ruby ball, ruby ball" and then would throw them! It was very fun. The next picture is of the Easter Egg Hunt in the downtown park. There were lots of people there for the fun event.
Easter was a great celebration this year. We hosted Charlie's side of the family and my parents. Thomas started off the morning, with a "pants are optional" attitude. He looks like he should be in the movie Risky Business here. Picture Thomas Cruise sliding across the floor, to the theme song of "Old Time Rock and Roll." A very funny time during Easter Mass was when Thomas thought that Santa was sitting in front of us. A man, who goes to our church, has a striking resemblance to Santa. Thomas kept pointing in front of us and saying, "Danta, Danta!" When Santa turned around to shake his hand, during passing of the peace, Thomas was a bit in awe. I haven't included a picture of Charlie and me for a long time...I thought it was a good time, since we actually remembered to take a picture of the two of us, over Easter. :)
New things for Thomas:
- He did his first somersault last night! He likes to go upside down and then he just went all the way. He seemed very proud of himself.
- He loves going for walks! The stroller doesn't really come out anymore because he likes to walk on his own. Our walks aren't fast, but they are fun.
- His vocabulary is just growing and growing!! It's amazing what he picks up on and remembers. He can look around the room now and name many things. He is also starting to recognize certain things. Such as...we pulled up to daycare the other day and he said, "AJ car?" Sure enough, it was his little friend, AJ's, mother's car in the driveway. He surprises us all the time, with the things that come out of his mouth.
- We have a meat eater on our hands!! He loves any kind of meat...brats, steak, venison, ham, pork, chicken, etc. Whenever he sees a grill, he says, "Meat, Meat!"
- He is a very loving child. He likes to give hugs, kisses and tell you that he "wuvs you." It's very sweet.
- He seems to have a great imagination. He has a set of play food and he is getting really good at pretending with them.
